diminish oneself

The new year’s eve now being comfortably at a distance, I may once again contemplate self-change without rolling my eyes at myself. Being the big fat bastard that I am, I think I should diminish myself in the eyes of others, and lose, say, ten-fifteen kilos. The precise method will not be well-defined here, beyond being some variant of the One True Way: Lay off the chocolate and get some exercise, you big bag of blubber. I think I’ll give the low-carb thing a whiff, it having meat. The following days are exempt from snotty posh diet: 13th, 16th, 17th, 20th, and 21st of May, as well as the Tom Waits race, and beer is permitted Fridays and Thursdays, provided consumption is less than normal. Current mass: 98 kg. Plots may be available, or then again maybe not.

Knutdag

Ok, I’ll just omg Knutdag. It’s … amusing. I’ll read the lot when I’m not at a seminar supposed to be learning about web services.

Bookie goodlie:: Schlock Mercenary: Under New Management

Schlock Mercenary, one of my four favourite webcomics, is finally coming out in paper. I missed the special first-twohundred-preorder, but I will have my book.

I’m not going to introduce the comic to you, because that’s been done better onsite. I’m looking forward to this little bit of goodness. It doesn’t start with the first strip, because the art sucked royally in those days. And the stories weren’t as good. The book starts a bit later when the stories are good and the art is … better.

Fair enough, Mr. Tayler is not the best artist I’ve seen, but he’s far from crap. And now, a few more words of praise: The SF universe is large, good, fairly consistent and has nonhumanoid aliens. Mr. Tayler delivers the goods: On-schedule daily updates, not a single fille strip for nearly six years.
Which implies no stick figures and no Shirt Guy Tom. No stupid cliches overparodied to death like GPF and Sluggy Freelance sometimes lapse into, like they have now.

Problem: Utah release is 20th of May. Meaning I’ll have the book in mid-June, at best. Stupid cross-Atlantic mail service.

Update 2006-05-23: Bookie arrived already. Whee!

Påske!

Om ikkje lenge er det påskeferie. Særleg sidan det ikkje går 14.30-buss i morgon, slik at eg ta 09.30-bussen eg hadde tenkt å sova forbi.
